Who is this yoga retreat for?

This yoga retreat is a truly experiential journey – a journey for anyone seeking genuine relaxation and recovery. Gentle yoga soothes the soul and mind, while the surroundings, food, and sauna experiences awaken your senses. They are an essential part of your recovery and holistic wellbeing. During the retreat, you will gain valuable knowledge about recovery and practice simple, practical exercises that you can continue back home, bringing lasting benefits to your everyday life.

Complete relaxation and unique sauna experiences

During the retreat, you will enjoy the unique atmosphere of Hotel Jeris and Arctic Sauna World, beautifully located on the shores of Lake Jerisjärvi. The experience is elevated by an impressive yoga space with expansive windows and the stunning sauna world with five different saunas, including the Repo Sauna, where we will enjoy traditional sauna heat and the warmth of an outdoor hot tub.

In the sauna world, you’ll also have the chance to dip into the refreshing waters of Lake Jerisjärvi, kept open even during winter. Both the yoga and sauna facilities are right by the lake, offering breathtaking views. Additionally, the cooling lounge of Repo Sauna features a glass ceiling, allowing us to admire the starry sky – and, with a bit of luck, even the Northern Lights.

The Repo Sauna at Arctic Sauna World has been listed by The Times among the best winter retreat destinations in the Nordics.

You can dip into Lake Jerisjärvi at any time, as the lakeside at the sauna world is kept open even in winter.

Gentle yoga and meditation with excellent outdoor activities

The yoga sessions at the wellness retreat consist of gentle hatha yoga suitable for everyone. No previous yoga experience is required, as the practices are designed for both complete beginners and those with more experience. Over the weekend, we will also explore meditation and breathing exercises, as well as slow yoga, which focuses on restorative, calming movements that soothe the nervous system.

During the yoga holiday, Friday and Saturday afternoons include ample free time to explore the nearby Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. Well-maintained and illuminated cross-country ski trails start right next to the hotel. The Pallas ski slopes are just a few kilometers away (with transportation available), and there are perfect areas for snowshoeing – snowshoes can be rented – either near the hotel or in the surroundings of the Pallas Nature Center, where you can experience breathtaking open fell landscapes.

On the open fells, you’ll discover the magic of Lapland – they invite you to go snowshoeing or skiing.

Accommodation and dining

During the yoga retreat, accommodation is provided in double rooms at Hotel Jeris, decorated in traditional Lapland style. Each room has its own bathroom with a shower and toilet. Daily breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are served in the hotel’s cozy restaurant, which also offers beautiful views of Lake Jerisjärvi.

Hotel Jeris and Arctic Sauna World are located in Muonio, approximately 20 km from Muonio town center and about 8 km from the Pallas Nature Center. Kittilä Airport is about a 45-minute drive away (with a bus connection to Jeris), and Kolari railway station is about a one-hour drive away.

If you are arriving at the retreat by plane, transportation is available from every Finnair flight directly to our retreat hotel. For more information about transfers, don’t hesitate to get in touch with katariinavainionpaa.kv@gmail.com.
